Description : In 1877 shortly after his arrival in Cullman, Alabama Father James Meurer saw the need for his German parish to have a Catholic Cemetery. He approached Col John Kullmann, founder of the city who appropriated approximately five acres located between 8th and 9th Streets Southeast at 8th Avenue at the edge of the town. Though no deed was recorded it was appropriated in the Fromhold Addition. In 1998 additional land was purchased by Sacred Heart Catholic Church increasing the total cemetery to ten acres. A Columbarium and a memorial garden with Stations of the Cross have been created.
