| Description | : | Many soldiers from Georgia were captured by the germans in 1941 and 1942. Due to the very bad conditions of captivity many of them choose to fight with the Germans. The 822 Regiment was formed. In this regiment were 800 men from Georgia and 400 Germans. Just a few men from Georgia got a high position in this regiment. They came from Zantvoort to the Island and at the end of the war they where going to be transferred to the eastern part of the Netherlands.
