The property was one of several tracts bought by the Lumberton Cotton Mills in 1900, then later to Mansfield Mills in 1924. The origins of this cemetery are unknown but survey land maps clearly show it as being called Carlyle Cemetery just off of Whiteville Road near Lewis Cemetery with burials in the early 1900s.
