Description | : | In 1771, a plague epidemic took place in Moscow, at the height of which up to 800 people died a day. By order of the Senate, it was forbidden to bury the dead in the city, for them “plague” cemeteries were founded outside Moscow. One of them appeared near the Danilovskaya Sloboda, from which it got its name - this site was Central. Next to it, on the slope of the Andreyevskiy ravine, a territory was allocated for the Muslim cemetery for the burial of individuals of the different faith (not Christians) and foreigners. It was also a "plague" cemetery. |
