Description : The Church of the Holy Cross in Żelowice (formerly Silbitz) was originally built as a funerary chapel 1866. It was built on the directive of Countess Caroline von Mettich, who left directions in her will for the construction of a new funerary chapel for her family. Per the Countess' will, mass was to be celebrated on the birth and death days of all those buried in the chapel, with its maintenance permanent supported by the estate.
