Description : In 1755, Matthias Zimmerman purchased a lot at what is now West Queen Lane and Pulaski Avenue to be a burial place for all "Negroes. . . and Mulattoes as they Die in any part of Germantown forever.” Burials began that same year but the first known documented burial was March 25, 1766. Burials continued until 1916. This cemetery was known by a number of different names, including the "Colored burial lot at Germantown" and the "Germantown Potter's Field."
