Description	:	The list of names was taken from Harriet Cole Bowen who recorded these burials for the DAR in 1939. She wrote: "Goff Burials" "When Palmyra was a part of Blissfield Township, Ezra Goff and his son Timothy Bliss Goff, located land and settled on what is now Section 26, Palmyra Township, in 1826. Both men and their respective wives were buried on this farm near their cabin on a bluff overlooking the River Raisin. At the bottom of the list, she wrote: "On the 21st of May, 1939, the Goff Descendants and Lucy Wolcott Barnum Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, of Adrian, Dedicated a boulder bearing the above inscriptions, to the honor of EZRA GOFF, REVOLUTIONARY HERO. In the book located at the Adrian Library: "Goff, Ezra was a fifer in Capt. Nathaniel Carpenter's Co., Col. Thomas Carpenter's Regt., Mass. Troops, and served 16 days marched from Rehobath, Mass. to Bristol, R.I. on the alarm of Dec 8, 1776; also a fifer in Capt. Mathaniel Carpenter's Co., Col. John Hathaway's Reg't., in which he enlisted Apr. 21, 1777, serving 23 days. This company was stationed at Tiverton, R.I. He was also a fifer in Capt. Nathaniel Carpenter's Co., Col. Josiah Whitney's Reg.t., and servied from May 31, to July 5, 1777 in R.I., also a drummer in Capt. Joseph Franklin's Co., (Rehoboth), Col. John Daggett's Reg't., serving from Jan 1, to Mar. 31 in R.I. He was also a fifer in Capt. Israel Hix's Co., Col. Josiah Whitney's Regt. and served from July 30, to Sept 10, 1778 on an expedition to R.I. This company was raised in Bristol Co., Mass. When he was 20 years old in 1780 he enlisted as a Private in Capt. George Webb's Co. that was raised to reinforce the Continental Army for the term of 6 months agreeable to the resolution of June 5, 1780 and which marched to camp July 11, 1789. His description as given under the enlistment is - Age 20, stature 5 feet, 7 inches, complection light. (See Nat. Nos., 70476, 207979, 207911, 207982.) Ezra Goff was honored by the Descendants of the family and the cooperation of Lucy Wolcott Barnum Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution by the Dedication of a boulder bearing a bronze plate on May 21, 1939. It was placed on the farm originally the Goff's, but now owned by Mr. William H Ford, who was glad to have it placed on his lawn just south of the present highway. The plate bears the following inscription: Ezra Goff A Revolutionary Soldier 1760-1828 and his wife Mehitable Bliss 1771-1835 also their son Timothy Bliss Goff 1790-1833 and his wife Sally Waite 1789-1841 They came from Royalston, Mass to Blissfield 1826 These Pioneers and buried near the bank of the River Raisin One hundred rods south of this site. Erected by The Descendants of Ezra Goff and The Daughters of the American Revolution (Insignia) 1938 Palmyra Township was organized from a part of Blissfield, 1834." "Goff, Ezra, 7th child of William and Rebecca Whiting Goff, b. May 26, 1760 in Rehoboth, Mass., M. Mehitable Bliss, June 18, 1789. Their oldest son was Timothy Bliss Goff; m. Sallie Waite, Jan. 22, 1815 in Royalston, Mass. Ezra Goff Came to Blissfield, MI Territory, in the spring of 1826 and on June 19, 1826, procured a tract of land in sec. 31, Blissfield. Entered at the Federal Land Office, Monroe. Ezra Goff enlisted as fifer at the age of 16y; later as drummer and when of proper age enlisted as private in Capt. George Webb's Co., and served through the war. (See "Mass. Sol & Sailors," Vol. VI.p 533.) He died August 28, 1828 in Blissfield. Buried on the bank of the Historic River Raisin, hear the situation of his son, Timothy B.'s cabin. This land is now Sec. 36, Palmyra Twp. Nat. No., 70476, 207979.
