Description	:	The Halem Pursley Family Cemetery is located northwest of Union City off of Arch Thompson Road. The known burials here are Halem L. Pursley, his wife, four of his children, and a son-in-law. When this cemetery was in use during the mid-1800s, it was in the garden behind the Pursley family home. The cemetery stood for about a century until it was bulldozed in the 1960s or 1970s. Read More	The Halem Pursley Family Cemetery is located northwest of Union City off of Arch Thompson Road. The known burials here are Halem L. Pursley, his wife, four of his children, and a son-in-law. When this cemetery was in use during the mid-1800s, it was in the garden behind the Pursley family home. The cemetery stood for about a century until it was bulldozed in the 1960s or 1970s. Aerial photographs from the 1950s show the cemetery as being a large grove of trees just southwest of the barn, which still stands today. By the next available aerial photo from 1981, all traces of the cemetery were gone. Two tombstones from this cemetery were salvaged and donated to the former Obion County Museum. This collection was turned over to Discovery Park of America and they now have these gravestones in storage.
