Description	:	The cemetery is at the current location of the Symmes Park Playground between S 3rd Street and S 4th Street and between Sycamore Street and Charles Street. The cemetery was established when the town of Hamilton was laid out in the 1790s. After Greenwood Cemetery was created in 1848, many of those buried here were moved to Greenwood Cemetery. However, the body of John Cleves Symmes remained, and a monument was erected for him in 1873 by his son Americus Symmes. That monument is the only remaining monument still standing at this location.
