| Description | : | Herring Carter cemetery was located on the original land of John B. Herring and Mariah Hill. His father, Benjamin Herring (died 1839) was the first burial there. His family came from Albemarle Co. Virginia in 1833. Benjamin was my 4th great grandfather. The Carter family came from Kentucky in the 1820's to Missouri. John G. Carter married Matilda Herring, daughter of John B. Herring and several members of their family were also buried here. A few headstones were still standing and readable in 1933 when the DAR recorded the cemetery. This cemetery has been completely destroyed.... Read More |
