Description	:	The cemetery is located in a rural setting, on posted land, owned by LSU. Access to the public is available, when the gate is not locked. Access to the public is available, when the gate is not locked. The gates are locked, while livestock are moved from field to field. An LSU livestock research building is very near the cemetery. This building (on the right, as you enter the gravel drive off the paved road) looks to be about 10 to 15 years old, and has likely served to discourage further vandalism of the cemetery. The cemetery is primarily situated on a rectangular mound (almost 2,000 square feet in area), which is about 4 to 5 feet higher than the surrounding land. There are no above-ground graves here, as is customary in South Louisiana. The cemetery is fenced by a new 8 foot high cyclone fence, thanks to LSU; is regularly mowed (with permission from LSU) and there are ten (10) Crepe Myrtle trees encircling the area inside the fence. The trees are approximately 15 years old. Tragically, the cemetery has not always been properly cared for, as it has been by LSU for the last 20 years or so. It is clear that human activity at the cemetery has resulted in displacement of grave cover slabs, markers and monuments. It is likely that much of the damage was caused by cattle grazing, before the fence was erected. The broken and displaced slabs and stones are mostly stacked around, and on top of, the large brick tomb at the center, south end. Extensive research is being done to determine who is buried here. There may be as many as a dozen or more. Engraved names on the scattered and displaced gravestone remnants total only six (6) individuals, so far. Sadly, there is no way to know where the disheveled markers should reside. Plans are underway, including state permitting, to search for scattered or buried marker/monument fragments and try to piece together more of the history and genealogy of this cemetery.
