Quickly the town grew to hold 300 residents by 1867, with a blacksmith shop, restaurant, saloons, post office, hotel, and a assay office. The town had an upper and lower section where one had a ten stamp mill and the other a five stamp mill used for breaking ore. By 1868 mining declined but was revived in 1880 and only lasted one year.
