| Description | : | Located in Nevada's remote Grant Range are the remnants of an 1870s silver mining and milling camp. Mountain peaks at the head of Troy Canyon stand over 11,000 feet in elevation, while nearby Railroad Valley lies at 4700 feet. Prospectors wandered into Troy Canyon in 1867, where they discovered silver ore outcrops. Within a few years, the prospectors had improved their claims, purchased and homesteaded ranch lands in Railroad Valley, and sold their Troy Canyon mines to a British company – the Troy Silver Mining Company.
