Description	:	The Church of the Blessed Virgin in Kowary (formerly Schmiedeberg in Riesengebirge) was constructed in the second half of the fifteenth century, though a church was mentioned in the city as early as the 13th century. In 1549, the building was taken over by the city's Protestant communities, but was returned to the Catholic Church following the Thirty Years' War. It was thoroughly rebuilt after a major fire in 1670, and renovated in the 18th and 19th centuries. A small graveyard with some burial chapels surrounds the church, and numerous epitaphs from the 16th through 19th centuries are conserved...
