Description	:	This family Cemetery is situated on Lyford Road in Brookfield, NH on the family farm. Stones were hewn by Thomas Goodhue 1778 - The farm came into the Lyford family when Stephen Lyford bought it from John Task. John Task obtained the farm at a delinquent tax auction. 1814 - Stephen sold half of the farm to his son Theophilus Lyford for $500. Read More	This family Cemetery is situated on Lyford Road in Brookfield, NH on the family farm. Stones were hewn by Thomas Goodhue 1778 - The farm came into the Lyford family when Stephen Lyford bought it from John Task. John Task obtained the farm at a delinquent tax auction. 1814 - Stephen sold half of the farm to his son Theophilus Lyford for $500. This deed was recorded in 1833. 1868 - Theophilus Lyford sold his 1/2 to his daughter Betsey Lyford Hutchins (widow of John Sanborn Hutchins)and her son Stephen Henry Hutchins for the sum of $2,000. 1911 - Betsey Hutchins Lyford bequeathed her interest in the farm to her son Stephen Henry Hutchins in her will dated 1903. 1917 - John Lyford Hutchins draft registration indicated he helped his father run the 400 acre farm. 1957 - Joseph and Grace Parker purchased the farm at tax auction & sold it the same date to Frank Hutchins Jr. (Nephew of Stephen Henry Hutchins) for the sum of $2,200 - exact amt of their purchase. Story has it that Frank Jr arrived to the auction late. He then explained to the buyers that it was his family farm and they kindly sold it to him for the exact amount of purchase. Frank Hutchins Jr. estate distributed the farm and other Wolfeboro properties between his two children: son Richard got the victorian in Wolfeboro and daughter Arlene (Hutchins) Clifford took possession of the farm and property behind the victorian in Wolfeboro. 1978 Farm Cider Mill was sold to Sturbridge Village Museum, MA as a working exhibit. Piece by piece the Cider Mill was dismantled, carefully documented and then re-assembled at the Museum. The Cider Mill had been located across the Lyford road from the cemetery and is now a working exhibit during apple harvest for all to enjoy. 1988 the farm was bought by Bernadette C Hanley from Clement F Joubert. Then the farm was sold to Martha & Robert Charnock In 1993 the farm sold to Siggy and & W Eugene "Gene" Hays who fully restored it and grounds. The house now sits on remaining 7 acres. The cemetery is at the edge of the property and the surrounding iron rails and gates - a last wish of Betsey Lyford Hutchins - outlined in her last will and testament.
