Description : This cemetery is on land that was part of a 270-acre parcel owned by Ebenezer Eaton in 1808 according to the Salem Towne Jr. map. Thornton (1938) reported that the cemetery was started by Ebenezer Eaton, minister of the Congregational Church, who "allowed his parishioners to lay their dead to rest on his dry, sunny hillside in what was then his field.
