| Description | : | The Old Lowndes County Poor Farm/Pauper Farm was established after Thomas James Burgsteiner donated the 50 acres of land on 24 October 1881 to the County Commisioners. This site served as the county porr farm until after May 1900 when it was moved to the site on the Withlacoochee River near Double Bridges County Commissioners were recommending the establishment of a county poor farm as early as November 1874. The Old Lowndes County Poor Farm was located off of Bemiss Road between Pineview Drive and Randolph Street. Know superintendents include: William F Shuman. Hardy Christian.
