Description	:	This cemetery has long been forgotten and is now overgrown. I visited the cemetery and cataloged the graves there on March 15, 2010. In looking for the cemetery, my GPS had me to pull in a driveway. I proceeded to knock on the door of the home located there, and the people said they owned the land the cemetery was on and that I was free to go back there. The home was located on Vastine Green Rd.; they said I needed to go to Hopewell and then take House Rd. to where it is gated... Read More	This cemetery has long been forgotten and is now overgrown. I visited the cemetery and cataloged the graves there on March 15, 2010. In looking for the cemetery, my GPS had me to pull in a driveway. I proceeded to knock on the door of the home located there, and the people said they owned the land the cemetery was on and that I was free to go back there. The home was located on Vastine Green Rd.; they said I needed to go to Hopewell and then take House Rd. to where it is gated off. House Rd. is a gravel road and the gate is about 3/4 - 1 mile off the main road. From the point where the gate was located was an old logging road and I had to walk to the cemetery. It is about 1/2 mile from the gate. It is located near the end of the old logging road, just before you reach an open field surrounded by trees. The cemetery is in a thicket to the left of the logging road and is easily missed if someone does not know it is there. There are only about 12 graves marked with readable stones (though some stones may have fallen over time and are buried), but I counted at the very least 20 graves marked only by creek rocks. We will probably never know who many of those are that are interred there...at least, not until we leave this old world! From Bill Davis: "My late father and I visited the area 20 years ago and went out to the cemetery with a local cousin named Tom Weaver, who was in his 90's. We took a tortuous route coming in along an abandoned road from the East, Tom pointing out where various homes once stood and where people lived along a road that was once a neighborhood onto itself. I recall he pointed where a house was where one of our cousins burned to death when her dress caught on fire. I recall you could see the rut where the old road was and it had trees growing up through it. We stopped at a house with a black woman, who was amazed that we had come up the old road, and borrowed her son to help us find the cemetery. We continued on and reached a clearing. Tom pointed out where the old Shelton home was off to the right, as well as the old church swimming hole. Then off to the left in the overgrown area was where the cemetery was. Two of Tom's siblings who died as children are buried there, and their graves were marked. We didn't see a marker for my grandmother's father, John Griffin, who is buried there, as well as my Shelton ancestors. John's wife Ida Shelton Griffin and children are buried in the current church cemetery. We continued on and emerged on Cecil Adams House Road. A few months later, both Tom Weaver and my father were dead. It was quite an experience, and I always wanted a better idea of where I had been."
