Description : Omph-Ghent is one of the northern townships of Madison County that received its name from the church that stood near the residence of David Swett, the original pioneer settler of the area. Omphghent Burying Ground (formerly Omph-Ghent) is a pioneer cemetery on private ground. I would estimate that the cemetery now contains about 50 gravestones (Feb. 2009).
