Description	:	The Oahe Mission was established by Rev. Thomas L. Riggs in the 1870s. It was located on the east bank of the Missouri River, about five miles north of the present-day Oahe Dam. The small burial plot of seven graves was situated just below the west windows of the Rev. Thomas L. Riggs mission residence. Family members referred to it as the "Little Enclosure". Thomas Riggs, his two wives, two children from his second marriage, his grandson, and his son Theodore's first wife are buried here. Nina Foster Riggs, first wife of Rev. Thomas L. Riggs, was the first one buried here in 1878. Louisa Riggs, second wife of Rev. Thomas L. Riggs, was the last to be buried here in 1951. The remains were not moved when the Oahe Dam was constructed in the 1950s and early 1960s, and they lie beneath 150 feet of water created by the dam's reservoir.
