Description | : | A site of worship since 1157, the “Mither Kirk” was enlarged in the 15th century and became one of the largest churches in Scotland at that time. There being two churches on the site now linked by Drum’s Aisle, the East Church is no longer used while the West Church is still a place of worship. The graveyard contains many stones which are now illegible. The East Kirk of St Nicholas has undergone archaeological excavations with the discovery of many thousands of bones, some having been built into the walls. Further information can be found on The Mither Kirk website. |
