It is located on property that at one time belonged to Charles W. and Elizabeth Shaffer. Early in its history, it was used as the original Roman Catholic cemetery for Oakland, later being used (it seems) solely by family members. She notes, "The property on which this cemetery is located has been sold for a housing development. The cemetery is to be fenced and cleaned up."
