Exit the west bound Trans-Canada Hwy at Monte Creek, Hook Road Turn left and head east on Dallas Drive Turn left on Old Ferry Road through the tunnel under the Trans-Canada Hwy. Follow the Old Ferry Road parallel to the CPR tracks to railway crossing. Don’t cross over the tracks, but turn right on road up the hill. There are also several marked and unmarked memorials in the church yard For access inside the church and memorials, services are conducted on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 10:00 AM Source: Vernon & District Historical Society The area of Monte Creek was originally known as 'Ducks' , named for Jacob Duck, an Englishman, who purchased the ranch previously owned by a Mexican named 'Monte' in 1863. Jacob Duck bought the ranch for a few hundred dollars worth of gold dust. In 1896, the area became known as 'Monte Creek'. St. Peter's Church was first established by the Anglicans in Monte Creek in the late 1800's.The current church was erected in memory of Alexander Hewitt Bostock, son of Senator Hewitt and Lizzie Bostock. Alexander Bostock died at age 23 in 1916 in WWI. The St. Peter's Church Cemetery was first established in the early 1900'. The first marked grave dates to 1906. The site was consecrated by the Bishop of Kootenay on Sunday, July 31 at 5:00 pm. The cemetery land was also a donation from the Senator and his wife. The cemetery is approximately an acre in size and well maintained by the residents who live next to the cemetery. It is enclosed by a wire fence on all sides with a metal gate enclosing the area. The graves are laid out east/west. The majority of the monuments are made of concrete, stone, marble and granite. There is a mix of old, upright markers and flat markers.
