In the remnants of the wooden original structure was found only a funeral, which is an essential indication that it was a separate church. The church was probably built in the area of the " curtis " of the landlords and is the successor of a Merovingian Sprengel , which was originally managed by the Glauberg . This unnamed nobleman may be a member of the Hartmann family. The existence of this family is concluded from the frequent occurrence of the leading name in donation deeds of the 10th and 11th centuries, which was unusual in the area, but from 1131 to their castle as lords of Büdingendesignated noble family frequently occurred. Therefore, the research assumes that the Büdinger emerged from the "Hartmännern" and that it is in the St. Remigius Church to the self-church of this regionally important aristocratic family. In the 9th century, the church was replaced by a hall-like stone building. At the beginning of the 11th century, the western transept was built.
