Description	:	The Taylor Family Cemetery is located on the old Bob Taylor homestead. Bob was Robert Taylor and he and his family are found living here in 1880, 1900 and 1910 census. Smith, his wife, for... Read More	The Taylor Family Cemetery is located on the old Bob Taylor homestead. Bob was Robert Taylor and he and his family are found living here in 1880, 1900 and 1910 census. It is unknown exactly how many graves were located here, but this was a family cemetery and was used for several decades. On 25 August 1931, a few months after Tarpley Taylor was buried here, there was a Warranty Deed made which reads: Warranty Deed: Know All Men By These Presents, that we, Henry Smith and J. V. Smith, his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of Two and 50/100 Dolalrs to us paid by Archie Taylor, do hereby grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Archie Taylor and unto his heirs and assigns forever, the following lands lying in the County of Madison and State of Arkansas, to-wit: A part of the following described land, to wit: Beginning on the State Highway where the present Graves of the Taylors are buried, running south 35 yards to a stone, thence East 35 yards to a stone, thence north 35 yards to the road, thence west with the road 35 yards to the place of beginning, containing 1/4 acre, all in Section 14, Township 17, Range 25 West. To have and to hold the same unto the said Archie Taylor and unto his heirs and assigns forever with all appurtenances thereunto belonging. And we hereby covenant with the said Archie Taylor that we will forever warrant and defend the title to said lands against all lawful claims whatever. Recorded in Deed Record Book 92, Page 515, Madison County, Arkansas on the 15th day of January 1951. This deed is recorded and is legal - the problem is this: evidently the Taylor family cemetery was not preserved and the "State Highway's" route has changed several times over the years, with the highway being widened. It appears from the description that the graves were located on the East side of the State Highway. There used to be an old hand-dug well on that side, but it is gone now. No one knows for sure where these graves were located and if they had grave markers, they too are gone. So the bottom line is this: A deed was made and Archie Taylor (son of Tarpley Taylor) paid $2.50 for the land where the cemetery was located ... but it didn't do any good because today no one knows where these graves are at. Some people believe that when the State Highway was widened, that the highway now goes over the top of the graves. The GPS coordinates shown on the map here on this page, (for some reason the Map is not showing up on this page: the GPS coordinates are N36.12784 W093.61015)shows only the GENERAL AREA where the graves should be located, and do not "pin-point" the exact location since no one knows where they were located.
