Description	:	The Thayer Cemetery is located in Yellow Creek Township, T57N, Range 18W, Section 5, SE 1/4. From the intersection of Hwy 36 and Hwy U, north of Marceline, go north on Hwy U about 1 1/2 miles to Lotus Road, a gravel road going east near the bottom of a hill. Park on Lotus Road and walk uphill south on Hwy U about 60-70 yards, then walk west up over the hill; cemetery is on west slope of the hill just 50 yards from Hwy U. There are only about 4 known graves still in the Thayer Cemetery. When the town of Thayer was disbanded most of the people in the Thayer Cemetery were moved to other cemeteries. Some were moved to St. Michaels in Brookfield and the location of the others is not positively known. Some may have also been moved to the Sights Cemetery which was just down the hill and across the railroad tracks from the Thayer Cemetery.
