Description	:	The Trinity Anglican Cemetery in Barrie was established in 1835, when Trinity Episcopal Church was built in the triangle bounded by Worsley, Poyntz and Berczy streets, on lots 114, 115 and 116. The cemetery may have been the same location as an existing earlier informal burying ground, which might have been the only burial facility in Barrie from when the first settlement started twenty years earlier in 1815. The new church eventually became known as Trinity Anglican church, and the original cemetery became known as Trinity Anglican cemetery, or more informally as "the cemetery near the courthouse". The original Trinity cemetery was likely used for interments until Barrie Union cemetery was opened in 1879. After 1880, the original church and cemetery fell into disrepair. Some of the remains and headstones at the original location were moved to the Barrie Union cemetery in the next 70 years, but likely not all. The cemetery land was sold to a private person in May 1946, and in March 1947 the property was disestablished as a cemetery, and four residential houses were subsequently built. According to the Cemetery Act of 1937, under which disestablishment was governed, all remains were to be removed before disestablishment could occur, but this may have been subject to a "best efforts" approach. A group of about 20 remains were discovered during earthworks for the new houses being built on the original site, and these were identified and re-interred at Barrie Union cemetery in 1947. It is likely that at least some, and perhaps many of the remains interred at the original Trinity cemetery site are still there today.
