Description	:	Tucker County, WV Poor Farm was located on the present site of the Holly Meadows Country Club golf course at the end of County Farm Road 2-miles north of Parsons, WV and south of St. George along the Cheat River. The golf course was built at 1323 County Farm Road (County Rd 72-8) in 1962 as part of an effort led by Earl J. Delaney, mayor of Parsons, WV and well after the poor farm was abandoned. The golf course was built at 1323 County Farm Road (County Rd 72-8) in 1962 as part of an effort led by Earl J. Delaney, mayor of Parsons, WV and well after the poor farm was abandoned. The County Farm was built on bottom land known as Horse Shoe that is surrounded on three sides by the Cheat River. In 1774, John Minear built a stockade fort on this site in reaction to the outbreaks of the Dunmore War.
