Description	:	The Wallace township cemetery occupies the bulk of the grounds, as first accessed from E. Wallace Co. Road O. Behind that, in the northwest corner, enclosed by a stone wall, is the old Fort Wallace Cemetery. The fort, an early outpost along the Smoky Hill trail in western Kansas, provided protection from 1865-1882. After the fort was abandoned by the Army, the graves of 80 officers and soldiers were moved to Fort Leavenworth Cemetery, being completed by the end of May, 1886.
