Description	:	On December 8, 1914 Anna Beth Jones was born to William Henry(05/08/1883-11/22/1962)and Susan Ann Gittins-Jones(05/30/1886-09/07/1964). Anna Beth siblings were Mae Grace Jones-Schrader(02/21/1907-11/15/1993), Twins William Robert(06/21/1908-07/09/1908)and Edward Emerson(06/21/1908-07/10/1908) they died in infancy, William Allyn(09/02/1909-10/13/1918) died in the influenza epidemic, Merwyn Gittins(03/16/1911-06/30/1991), Rowland(1912-10/12/1912)also died in infancy, Alice Rebecca Jones-Ablard (11/07/1913-01/30/1997) Sarah Eleanor Jones-Allanson(08/26/1918-01/13/2007) and Millicent Sue Jones Hertz(05/18/1923-10/17/1988). Anna Beth grew up with her grandparents and great aunt Grace living in the same community. She graduated Williamsburg High School on May 26,1932. Per Anna Beth she had to wait to go to State University of Iowa until she was 19. She graduated with her nursing degree from S.U.I. on June 7, 1937. After which she worked at the University Hospital in Iowa City in the delivery and maternity wards. In 1939 she moved to Sacramento, CA and worked at Sutter Hospital. January 1, 1941 she joined the Army as a Lieutenant. She was given a waiver because she was below the 100 pound weight limit of 98 pounds. She did her basic training at Fort Ord in CA. 1943 she headed to Australia she served the South Pacific theater mostly New Guinea and Dutch New Guniea thru December of 1944 when she was transferred to the Philippines. She came back to the States in 1945 and reported to O'Reilly Hospital in Springfield, Mo where she finished out the remainder of her service. On March 9,1946 she was discharged from the Army and was awarded the Bronze Star as 2nd Lieutenant. Anna Beth would return to Merced, California and work her way up at that hospital from head nurse to Director of Nursing. In July of 1949 she would make her move to Washington D.C. George Washington University Hospital where she worked and continued with her education and earning in the end her MA degree in education from George Washington University. She would retire from GWU in 1980. Anna Beth never married or had children. Her family was very important to her and her summer vacations entailed visits to every one of her siblings for years. She enjoyed music and loved to sing. She also was a talented artist and produced pencil, chalk and charcoal drawings as well as some paintings. She loved Washington D.C. and remained there until her death on September 15, 2003. Her ashes were brought back to Oak Hill here in Williamsburg and buried on October 18, 2003 by surviving Nieces and a nephew.
