Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery north of Arkansas City, KS. Friends may call from 9:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Monday, September 30 at Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home & Crematory in Arkansas City. For more information or to send a condolence please visit www.hawksfuneralhome.com. Aaron was born in rural Winfield, KS on May 4, 1927, the son of Oliver William and Nancy Melissia (Hamner) Donlay. After his schooling, Aaron joined the United States Navy on August 7, 1944 during World War II. He served as a Seabee during the war and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was united in marriage to Thelma Keeling on October 23, 1948 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Arkansas City, KS. For over 50 years he worked as the head packer at Dixie Porland Flour Mill. After his retirement, he and Thelma delivered medicine for Graves Drug Store. Aaron was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church and the American Legion of Arkansas City. When Aaron was younger, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, helping on the farm and woodworking. And a good game of horseshoes was always a good time. His family includes: his sons: Dale Donlay and wife Janet of Arkansas City and Bryan Donlay and wife Monnie of Winfield, KS; his daughters: Nancy Rutter Roberts and husband Hugh; Lydia Walker and husband Larry and Susan Graham and husband Dwyane all of Arkansas City, KS; his sister: Leona Donlay Newton of Springfield, MO; his 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; his siblings: Jesse, Herman, Harold, Glen, Paul and Richard Donlay; Leveta Donlay Boswell, infant triplets, Twila, Rachel and Gearld, Velma Donlay Boswell and Pauline Donlay Smith.
