Oklahoma Ave., died Sunday at 2:59 a.m., at Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield where he had been a patient one week. He was born June 15, 1879, at Ellinwood, Kan., to Mr. and Mrs. William Donlay. He was reared there, then moved to Marion, Kan., where he owned and operated a hotel and cafe. He married Malissia Nancy Hammer on Dec. 12, 1905, at Lyons, and they made their home at Marion. They moved to Elk City then to Arkansas City on Aug. 25, 1956. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Former Evangelical United Brethren church at Hackney. Survivors include three sons, Jess O., of Wichita, Harold W., of 1204 North A street, and Aaron G., of 330 Meek, four daughters, Mrs. R.J. (Loveta) Boswell, 1509 W. Oklahoma Ave., Mrs. N.E. (Velma) Boswell, Derby, Mrs. Glenn (Pauline) Smith, Cedar Vale, and Mrs. Harry (Leona) Newton, 1005 North C. street, 19 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by four sons, Richard, Paul, Glenn and Herman, two brothers, L.S. and John W., and one sister, Mrs. Hattie Woyman. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., at the Rindt Memorial Chapel with Rev. Laverne Williams officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The casket will be closed at the service and the body will lie in state at the funeral home until 10 a.m. Tuesday. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield) Oct. 2020
