She is survived by her children, Florian "Junior" Andrews and Rebecca Mohr, both of Searsport; and Robert and his wife, Dorothy, of Bangor; grandchildren, Michael Andrews, Beverly Andrews, Michelle Andrews Mau, Rob Andrews, Jennifer Andrews Rancourt and Christopher Black; great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Benjamin Rancourt, Matthew, Lauren and Erin Andrews, Alexander, Asa and Abbie Andrews, and Christopher, Jesse, Allysa and Kyle Mau; special nephew, Herbert Black III and companion, Cindy Clarke; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by son, Clayton Andrews; her second husband, William Sennett; two brothers, William Black and Herbert Black Jr; daughters-in-law, Carol Andrews and Martha Andrews; and son-in-law John Mohr. Abbie was a life-long resident of Searsport. During World War II, she served the effort as an observer of enemy aircraft from the lookout tower of The Mission building (presently Full Gospel Church), worked as a seamstress in the factory sewing military pants, and opened her home to numerous stevedores loading ammunition at the docks for shipment overseas. In her young adult life she was involved in many business ventures, including construction, delivering baked beans, doughnuts and pies to local restaurants and residents, laundry services and providing a welcoming home to numerous boarders for many years. Abbie was active in the First Congregational Church of Searsport for more than 60 years, where she participated in the Women's Fellowship, Round-a-bouts and Congregators. She held memberships in other area organizations including the Searsport Lady Lions, Daughters of American Revolution, Penobscot Chapter, Searsport Historical Society, and she was a former president of Searsport Evening Extension Group. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at the First Congregational Church of Searsport, with Pastor Arlin Larson officiating. A time of fellowship with refreshments will be held in the Josh Curtis Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
