Mrs. Harry Gowin Died Last Week -------- Wife of Tatman Township Farmer Dies at Wenatchee Wash., After Long Illness -------- The following account of the death of Mrs. Harry Gowin is taken from a newspaper at Wenatchee: Mrs. Abbie M. Gowin, wife of Harry M. Gowin, died at their home, 712 Cashmere Street, yesterday evening at 6:40. Mrs. Gowin was born February 9, 1881, near Logansport, Indiana. In 1884 she in company with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Monesmith, removed to North Dakota, where she attended the Mayville normal school and soon became a successful teacher. She was married to Mr. Gowin March 16, 1905. To them were born one daughter, Miss Caroline, aged 12, and two boys, Howard and Harold, 9 and 5 respectively. Mrs. Gowin contracted tuberculosis in the fall of 1916. She spent the winter in California but found no relief. In the spring of 1917 she came to Wenatchee to live with her mother. Mrs. Monesmith, while Mr. Gowin spent the summer attending to the business of his farm near Glenburn, North Dakota. When Mr. Gowin returned to Wenatchee they made their home on Ferry Street. About two months ago they moved to their present home, 712 Cashmere Street. Besides her family, Mrs. Gowin is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary E. Monesmith, two sisters, Mrs. Blanch Gault, of Wagnersburg and Mrs. Nora Tobler of Bremerton, and two brothers, Ray and Gus Monesmith of Wenatchee; two half brothers, Jay and Will Monesmith of Bremerton and a half sister, Mrs. Cora Ulrich of Rochester, Indiana. Mrs. Gowin of the Church of God faith. Her pure sweet Christian life stood out as one of the bright landmarks of the Christian faith. Her simple trust in God and her victory over the sting of death bear witness to a perfect Christianity. She gave love without measure and help beyond her strength, even her life for her friends. Wherever she went she gained many friends. The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Hall and Templeton’s undertaking parlors. Interment will be in the East Wenatchee cemetery. -------- Mrs. Gowin had many friends here (in North Dakota) who deeply regret to learn of her death. She made her home in Tatman township until a year ago when she moved to Washington and California in the belief that a change of climate would help her health. The surviving relatives have the sincere sympathy of their friends here.
