She was one of the most faithful and obedient christians we have ever met. There was no weather too cold or night so dark, that she would not attend the house of worship whenever there were religious services in her church. The faith that Grandma Gilbert exhibited was something out of the ordinary, and the example she set is worthy of emulation. A good woman has passed to her reward. Abigail Moon was born at Hopkinton, St. Lawrence county, N. Y., July 29, 1837. Moved to Kane county, Illinois, in 1842. While there was converted and united with the Baptist church under the pastorate of Rev. N. T. Ravlin. Again moved with her parents to Delaware county, Iowa, in 1856. Was married July 4, 1859, to John A. Gilbert. Eleven children were born to this union, five of whom are living and attended her to the end. They removed from Iowa to Madison county, Nebraska, in March 1874, and again to Sherman county and located near Loup City in the fall of 1884. She also leaves one brother, Judge Moon of this city, and two sisters. The funeral services were held in the Baptist church, Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Dr. Geo. Sutherland of Grand island, and Rev. H. S. Wold of Wyconda, S. Dakota. The Times joins with the many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones.
