Mr. Allamand was born near Monticello in Castle Grove township on March 15, 1882, the son of Abraham and Dorothy Accola Allamand. On December 14, 1904 he was married to Mary L. Arnold, and with the exception of five years the home was made in Richland township near Monticello. The couple became the parents of ten children. Those left to survive his passing are: his wife, Mrs. Mary Allamand; five son, Raymond, at home, Lawrence of Anamosa, Clarence of Stanwood, Karl of Portland, Oregon and George of Yuba City, California; five daughters, Anna, Mrs. C. L. Schofield of Monticelllo, Lillian, Mrs. R. E. Myers of Iowa City, Caroline, Mrs. Martin Neff of Lost Nation, Dorothy, Mrs. H. A. Turner of Victoria, Texas, and Mary Lou, Mrs. C. R. Guthrie of Center Junction. Other survivors include 24 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one brother, Lorenz Allamand of Monticello. The Goettsch funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Editor's note: 3 other children died in infancy and are buried in the same family plot in Oakwood Cemetery - only Leonard Allamand, twin of Lillian, has a stone; other 2 are: unknown b. & d. Nov. 28, 1914; unknown, twin of Dorothy, b. & d. April 24, 1922.
