Description	:	Wayne County Democrat Jan 1922 Obituary Abraham Johnston was born near Fredricksburg, Wayne County, Ohio, April 26th 1836. When he was quite young his parents moved to Indiana, where he grew to manhood. On March 4th, 1855 he was married to Mary S. Richardson and soon after this he moved to Iowa, locating on his old home place where he has always made his home until he moved to Sewal in 1910, where he spent the remainder of his life. Read More	Wayne County Democrat Jan 1922 Obituary Abraham Johnston was born near Fredricksburg, Wayne County, Ohio, April 26th 1836. When he was quite young his parents moved to Indiana, where he grew to manhood. On March 4th, 1855 he was married to Mary S. Richardson and soon after this he moved to Iowa, locating on his old home place where he has always made his home until he moved to Sewal in 1910, where he spent the remainder of his life. To this union was born six children, four of whom are still living and present. On November 24th, 1870, his wife died leaving him alone with his children. In January, 1871, he was married to Mary Watson and to this union were born seven children all of whom are living and present. He has been a pioneer of Wayne County and will be greatly missed. To know him was to love him and his friends are numbered by his acquaintances. In 1865 he was converted and joined the Methodist Church at Richardson Chapel and remained a member until a church was organized at Warsaw, Iowa, when he moved his membership to that place. Later when the United Brethren people started a church at Sewal, it being much nearer, he moved his membership here and has been a member ever since. He was very active and influential in making it possible for this church building, in which these services are being conducted, to be built and has always been a loyal supporter of it. He was consecrated to his church and nothing worried him more than to see it neglected. For the last few years poor health has kept him close to his home, but his heart was with the great cause and he always talked of the future with great hopes and lately had expressed himself as ready and glad to have the opportunity to meet his master. After a long illness he passed away at his home on Friday morning, December 30th, at 11:15. He leaves his wife, eleven children, J. D. Johnston, of Seymour; Sarah Ellen Shriver, of Allerton; Thomas W., of Des Moines; Mary S. Shriver of Humeston, Edgar E., of Clio; Margaret Tabatha Whiteley, Elmer J., Robert, Melvin, Arthur, Walter I., of Sewal; Willard H., of Seymour. Nineteen grand children, seven great grand children and a great host of other relatives and friends to mourn his going. His age was 85 years, 8 months and 4 days. Funeral services were conducted at the Sewal United Brethren Church, Sunday, Jan. 1st, 1922 at 11:00 A.M., by Rev. J. F. Bingaman of Seymour, Iowa. Interment at Richardson Chapel.
