Mrs. Mardis had not been in good health for many years but became critically ill during the night and she was taken to the hospital where emergency treatments were given to save her life. Having a severe hemorrhage due to the ailment from which she had long been a sufferer, blood transfusions were given but to no avail and while every remedy that could be given was administered, she passed away, as stated. Ada Mardis, was born in Garden county March 24, 1895, the daughter of Paul and Katherine Rentzsch. Having grown up in the Lewellen community she married Fernando Mardis of that place January 16, 1916. Their home has been in the Lewellen community continuously. Death occurred Tuesday, April 15, 1958, at the age of 63 years and 22 days. Burial was in the Ash Hollow cemetery. Survivors are her husband, Fernando Mardis: two daughters, Mrs. Irene Dietlein of this county and Sarah Stokey of Ogallala; her mother, Mrs. Cal Wickham; two brothers, Oscar and Earl Rentzsch; four sisters, Mrs. Lund and Mrs. Mabel Clark, of Lander, Wyoming; Mrs. Nettie Norton of Santa Ana, California; Mrs. Lena Williams of this city. She is also survived by four grandchildren and her many friends.
