Description	:	OBITUARY Ada Catherine Byars was born in Atchinson, Kansas, March 17, 1872, being the daughter of Joseph and Eliza Nesbitt. Her mother died when she was three years old. She came to Goldendale with her father in June, 1875. Arriving in Goldendale, Mr. Nesbitt and Ada made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Golden. Read More	OBITUARY Ada Catherine Byars was born in Atchinson, Kansas, March 17, 1872, being the daughter of Joseph and Eliza Nesbitt. Her mother died when she was three years old. She came to Goldendale with her father in June, 1875. Arriving in Goldendale, Mr. Nesbitt and Ada made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Golden. Mrs. Golden cared for the small girl until the next spring. On April 11, 1876, Joseph Nesbitt and Elizabeth Miller were united in marriage and the small family settled near Goldendale. In 1888, at the age of 16, Ada entered the Willamette University conservatory of music, from which she graduated two years later in voice and piano. It was here that she met William F. Byars, a student at the University. On May 4, 1892, she was united in marriage to William F. Byars, then of Portland, Oregon, at the Nesbitt home one mile east of Goldendale. The couple lived in Portland for one year before moving to Goldendale where they made their home. Seven children were born to this union, all surviving their mother. She and her husband united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Goldendale 44 years ago. Always a faithful Christian, Ada served her church as organist and pianist for nearly fifty years. She was an active worker in the Womans Foreign Missionary Society and all church activities, and a Sunday school teacher for several years. She began teaching piano upon her return from the Willamette University and continued until her illness stop all of her activities. A kind and loving mother, a true friend, her passing will be mourned by many. Those of her family who remain are: her husband, Wm. F. Byars; her seven children, Nesbitt, of Arlington, Oregon, Asalia, Theodore, Marguerite and Miriam, of Goldendale, Josephine of The Dalles, Oregon, and Fleming of Goldendale. Her step-mother, Mrs. J.M. Stultz, of Goldendale, and her brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mary Brewer, of Seattle, Mrs. Bernard Brewer, of Toledo, M.M. Nesbitt, of Goldendale, H.C. Nesbitt, of Tennant, Calif., Miss Taleen Nesbitt and Mrs. C.N. Cain of Portland, and her ten grandsons.
