Description	:	Ada Cora Carpenter, oldest daughter of John Wesley and Melissa Sampson Carpenter, was born March 3, 1878 near Mitchelville in Polk county (sic), Ia., and departed this life July 14, 1941 at the Patterson Memorial hospital (sic) in Belleville at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 11 days. In 1879 she moved with her parents to Sarpy county (sic), Neb., and in 1881 to Richardson county (sic), Neb., and in 1882 to Marshall county (sic) where the family resided until December 6, 1900. Read More	Ada Cora Carpenter, oldest daughter of John Wesley and Melissa Sampson Carpenter, was born March 3, 1878 near Mitchelville in Polk county (sic), Ia., and departed this life July 14, 1941 at the Patterson Memorial hospital (sic) in Belleville at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 11 days. In 1879 she moved with her parents to Sarpy county (sic), Neb., and in 1881 to Richardson county (sic), Neb., and in 1882 to Marshall county (sic) where the family resided until December 6, 1900. At this time they moved to a farm three miles north of Munden, where she lived for 35 years years (NOTE: typed as written in newspaper), moving to Narka March 2, 1936. Ada has been in poor health for several years and many hours were occupied with her needlework as long as her health permitted, these things being her prized possessions. Last December it became necessary for her to go to the hospital where she remained several weeks. As her health improved she went to Republic where she was cared for until a few days before her death when she again entered the hospital. She was the oldest daughter of a family of nine children, only one of whom a sister, Della, with the father and mother preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure, three sisters, Mrs. Esta Masten of Hubbell, Mrs. Rena Jenkins of Chester, and Harriet Carpenter of Fairbury; and four brothers, William A. of Munden, Bert W. of Hardy, Jess J. and Harley W. of Superior; also 12 nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church (sic) in Munden, conducted by Dr. W.S. Smalley of the Presbyterian church (sic) at Narka, and interment was made in the Ida cemetery (sic).
