Description	:	Ada Jane Pearson Phillips was born at Union Grove, Illinois to James and Mary Charlesworth Pearson. She was trained as a teacher at Sugar Grove Normal School before coming to Buffalo County in late 1883 or early 1884. Ada taught at Peake and other rural schools before her marriage. Adolphus "Dolly" and Ada were married March 2, 1892 in Kearney at the home of her parents. The Phillips lived in a sod house where their sons Walter and William were born. Read More	Ada Jane Pearson Phillips was born at Union Grove, Illinois to James and Mary Charlesworth Pearson. She was trained as a teacher at Sugar Grove Normal School before coming to Buffalo County in late 1883 or early 1884. Ada taught at Peake and other rural schools before her marriage. Adolphus "Dolly" and Ada were married March 2, 1892 in Kearney at the home of her parents. The Phillips lived in a sod house where their sons Walter and William were born. A frame house was moved to the farm from Kearney before 1900 where Mary, Sybil, and Dean were born. The older children attended Sunflower School which was just down the hill to the west. The family moved to Pleasanton in 1905 and the children then attended Pleasanton Public School. Ada was very active in the United Brethren Church. She was a devoted Sunday School teacher and member of the quilt group. In 1924 the Phillips built a new home just east of the church. After the death of her husband in 1938, Ada made her home with her daughter, Mary Wallace, until her death in 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dolly. Survivors were: Walter, and wife Olive; William, and wife Isabel; Mary Wallace; Sybil, and husband Earl Morgan; Dean "Jim", and wife Harriet; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
