Read More	Hartford Courant, The (CT) - June 10, 2001 KEEDY, Ada Sargeant Jackson Ada Sargeant Jackson Keedy passed away Thursday (June 7, 2001) after a short illness at 86. Born in New Bedford to Abraham and Lillian Jackson, Ms. Jackson graduated from New Bedford High School and Pembroke College (Brown University) in 1936. Ms. Keedy then taught English at her high school alma mater, and while a member of the First Congregational Church, she met her future husband, Allen Keedy , the church's minister. Together they held pastorates in Shenandoah, IA, Chicago, IL, and Norwood and Weymouth, MA, during which time their children arrived, Martha,1941, John, 1944, and Dan, 1951. After her second career as homemaker, Ms. Jackson received her masters degree in library science and was librarian in Everett, Boston, and Weymouth public schools. There then followed an exciting period in this couple's lives, in fleeing the cruel New England winters, she wintered in various sundry islands, e.g., St. Kitts, St. Croix, with her husband, Allen, who held part-time ministerial appointments. In Nevis, for example, they had no running water and carried their water by hand from a well. At this time Ms. Jackson also started a counseling program for adolescent girls. During this time the couple summered on Cape Cod in the village of Craigville, where their cottage, built in 1965, was only the second dwelling on upper Lake Elizabeth Drive. In 1974 they built a New England colonial in Walpole, MA. Then in 1991, they moved to Hartmeadow, a retirement community sponsored by the Flagg Road United Church of Christ in West Hartford. In the summer 2000, Ms. Keedy and her husband moved to Avery Heights, where she was much revered by the Noble House staff. She is survived her three children, Martha K. Hoffman of West Hartford, John L. Keedy of Louisville, KY, and Allen Daniel Keedy , of Waynesville, NC; as well as three grandchildren, Andrew B. Hoffman of Washington, DC, Katherine E. Hoffman of Boston, MA, and Emily R. Keedy of Louisville, KY. Following the private burial service, the memorial service will be held at the Flagg Road United Church of Christ on Saturday, June 16 at 2 p.m. The family requests that contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity, in lieu of flowers.
