The former Adah Pearl Gillespie, she was born and reared at Renwick and had always lived there until going to the nursing home. Her husband, Wilbur Packard, preceded her in death. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Clarence Erwin of Renwick, Mrs. Keith McCurry and Carroll Packard, both of Goldfield, and Mrs. Thomas Dye of Motley, Minn. There are 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. The pastor Rev. C. Wilbur Egeland, officiating. Interment was in the Elmwood cemetery at Renwick beside her husband. She died Friday at the Sisson Nursing Home in Humboldt where she had resided for three years. Ada Pearl Gillespie, daughter of James and Rosalie Gillespie, was born Aug. 18, 1880 in Boone township, Wright county. She was the youngest of four children. On Oct. 4, 1899 she was united in marriage to Wilbur Arthur Packard. To this union seven children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Packard farmed in Boone township for many years and except for a few years in Minnesota and other parts of Iowa, spent their entire life in and around Renwick. They retired from farming in 1940 and moved to Renwick where Mr. Packard died in 1949. Others preceding her in death were her parents, a brother and two sisters, one daughter, Blanche in infancy and two sons, Lyle and Emmett. Surviving are one son, Carroll, three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Erwin, Mrs. Keith McCurry of Renwick, Mrs. Tom Dye of Onamia, Minn, 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. Everyone knew her as "Grandma Packard" She lived a full and useful life and always enjoyed good health until she suffered a stroke in 1962.
