Read More	Mrs. Adeline Gee passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. A. Martin, at Snohomish, Washington, Thursday, February 8th, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 8 days. Adeline Lavina Carter was born in New York State, August 15, 1854 to Jane and Arnold Carter. When but a small child, she went with her parents to a new frontier home in the northern part of Wisconsin. When about six years of age, her parents decided to move to Missouri, where some other relatives had gone to take homesteads, but did not find it to their likings, so returned to Wisconsin about a year later, where they settled and hewed out a homestead from the virgin woods. Life was very strenuous, not only for the parents, but also for the children, especially the older ones. Adeline being the eldest of the family, early learned the rigors of life in the northern woods and having a rather frail mother, soon found herself taxed not only with arduous duties inside the home, but outside also. At the age of sixteen years, she was converted and became a member of the Methodist church and tried earnestly to live a Christian life. At 19 years of age she married George William Gee, who had come from England to make his home in the United States. To this union was born 13 children, four of whom passed away in infancy. One little daughter, Flossie, passed away at the age of six in Albion, Boone County, Nebraska, where they had made a home after several years of rather disheartening homesteading in Boone county, Nebraska. They had come from Wisconsin in a covered wagon with six small children, Agnes an infant baby. In 1911 she was left a widow at the passing of her husband and a couple of years later broke up her home in Albion, going to Wisconsin, where she made her home with her eldest daughter, Mrs. P. A. Martin, until after her mother, Jane Carter had passed away. She then went to California and lived where she was near her four youngest daughters, three of whom had married and were making their homes there. In 1918, Agnes, who had married Max Taylor of Blair, Nebraska, passed away at Whittier, where Mrs. Gee had been making her home, thus leaving her four daughters, Mary (Mrs. P. A. Martin), Mrs. Susie E. Breedlove, Mrs. Sadie A. Johnson and Fanny (Mrs. Charles Duncan) and her three sons James A. Gee, George W. Gee, and John H. Gee, who survive her. She had been making her home with Mrs. Johnson in Long Beach, California, and had gone to her eldest daughter, Mrs. Martin, in Snohomish, Washington, where on February 8, 1934, just fifteen days later, she passed peacefully away. Several years ago, she withdrew from the Methodist Church and became a member of the Christian Science Church in Boston, Massachusetts and was an earnest student of that teaching. She had not only been a most loving and devoted mother to her own family but has shown most motherly affection to many others who have seemed to need it. Even when, from a human sense, she had little of this world's goods, whatever she had was shared most freely with any whom she felt needed it more than she. Her whole life has been one of sacrifice and thoughtfulness for others, but she felt that in "her Father's house are many mansions" and that it was only by sharing with others the good she had, could she gain His approving "Well done". Though she has seemed to pass from our human sight, we know that she is continuing on in the good she expressed here for life is eternal and man is forever the expression of life. The remains were brought to Albion and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Jos. Stopford. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery where her husband was laid to rest several years ago. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – February 15, 1934)
