Edward Korneisel was the soloist with Mrs. Jess Purdy at the organ. Adam Bernhardt, son of Christian and Martha Elizabeth Bernhardt, was born in Netra, Prussia, Germany, Aug. 18, 1866 and died at his home in Odebolt Oct. 26 at the age of 86 years. When he was 14 years old he came to the United States locating in Lee Center, Ill. He later went to Dysart where he worked on a farm. There he met Louisa Hansen, whom he married Feb. 2, 1891. To this union were born six children. He migrated by team and wagon from Dysart to Sac county, which county had been his home ever since. He retired from farming in January of 1918 and moved to the present home on Dewey street. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Lutheran church until recent years when he attended the Presbyterian church. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, two sons, Chris and Fred of Odebolt; three daughters, Helen (Mrs. Milton Reinhardt) of Schaller; Dorethea (Mrs. Harry Witt) of Denison and Edna (Mrs. Basil Kelley) of Miami, Fla; one son, Robert, preceded him in death in October 1918, while in the serivce during World War I. He also leaves to mourn, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mr. Bernhardt was the last surviving member of his family. Interment was in the Odebolt cemetery with his six grandsons, Robert, James, Melvin, Donald, Wesley and Glenn Bernhardt as pallbearers. The towns represented were Rochelle, Eldena and Dixon in Illinois; Ruthven, Pipestone and Harmony in Minnesota; Bloomfield, Nebr.; Blunt, S. Dak; Decorah and Denison.
