Description	:	*Bert's given name was Adelbert, but was always known as Bert. - - - - Bert Oman was born at Kalamazoo, Michigan. His family moved to Wayne County, Nebraska. There he met Mary Adena Tidrick, and they married at Winside, Nebraska. Bert and Mary were parents of seven children - five girls and two boys. Their baby, Harold, died at age of two weeks. The other children were Vivian, Ruby, Lafa, Jessie, Esther, and Floyd. In the Spring of 1919, the family moved by train to Hand County, South Dakota. His family moved to Wayne County, Nebraska. There he met Mary Adena Tidrick, and they married at Winside, Nebraska. Bert and Mary were parents of seven children - five girls and two boys. Their baby, Harold, died at age of two weeks. The other children were Vivian, Ruby, Lafa, Jessie, Esther, and Floyd. In the Spring of 1919, the family moved by train to Hand County, South Dakota. They lived in several places, including 6 miles west of Miller along old highway 14, then farther south and west on two different places, then east of St. Lawrence in 1925 for two years, and then into St. Lawrence. Bert bought a truck and did hauling for people. Later he had a garage and automotive repairs. He also worked some at the grain elevator.
