In 1953, she was married to Hobart Hanson at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley, CA. Adele received her B.A. from U.C. Berkeley and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her M.A. from Pacific Oaks College, Pasadena. Adele cared deeply about helping all children succeed. She taught courses on early childhood education at Contra Costa College and ran the Early Learning Center there for many years with warmth, empathy, and intelligence. Adele was an Oblate and a member of the Hesed Community, serving on its board. Music held a special place in Adele's heart. In addition to being a member of her church choir and playing piano, she finally fulfilled a life goal to learn to play the harp. She volunteered playing healing music at a local hospital, and truly enjoyed the community of harpists she met around the world. She loved God, her children, stepchildren, and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was deeply grateful for her many friends and the love and support given by them and by her parish family. She thanked God for her many blessings and especially her beloved husband, Hobart. She is survived by her step-children David and Barbara, and her children Catherine, James, Stephen and John. She was predeceased by her brother Earl. Published in East Bay Times on Nov. 11, 2016
