She was 64 years and 4 months of age at the time of her death. FRED KRACKE DIES AT HER HOME IN DEWITT Mrs. Fred Kracke of DeWitt died at a Beatrice hospital (sic), early Friday morning, April 4. She was 64 years and 4 months of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Kracke will be remembered by some in this community as the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cord Meyer, early day residents of the Wilber vicinity. She was born December 4, 1865, at Lamzen, Hanover, Germany. In the year 1882 she migrated, with her parents to the United States and lived on a farm near Wilber. In 1884 she was married to Fred Kracke. This union was blessed with nine children, seven sons and two daughters. One son died in infancy. She received her religious training in the Lutheran church and remained a loyal member of that church until death. Mrs. Kracke leaves to mourn her unexpected departure, her husband and eight children: Benjamin, Fred, Herman, Gustav and Emil, all of DeWitt neighborhood, Werner of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. George Huneke whose home is near Plymouth, and Mrs. Herman Damkroger of DeWitt. There are also nineteen grandchildren, three brothers, three sisters and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home and at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church one mile west of Clatonia, Monday afternoo, April 7. The services were in charge of the pastor E. C. Monhardt. Many friends were present to show their last tribute of love and esteem to the bereaved survivors. Many beautiful floral tributes were offered. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran church cemetery. from The Wilber Republican dated April 11, 1930, page 1, column 4.
