Mrs. Lanz’ death occurred about 2 o’clock Wednesday morning, January 28, and is believed to have been caused from a sudden heart attack. She had awakened her husband about ten minutes earlier and asked for a glass of water saying she did not feel well. Mrs. Lanz had been an invalid for 6 years as the result of a stroke which partially paralyzed her, and she was also known to have a heart condition. A resident of Hand County and St. Lawrence for 58 years, Mrs. Lanz, the former Adelia Roenfeldt, was born December 9, 1882, at Mineola, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Mineola, and followed these teaching all her life. She was married to Chris Lanz on January 1, 1902, and they lived at Missouri Valley, Iowa, until 1906, when they moved to a farm two miles north of St. Lawrence. This was their home until 1941 when they moved to St. Lawrence. Despite her handicap, which kept her confined to a wheel chair, she never lost her deep interest in her family and friends. She had many hobbies, including a love of flowers, and since her hands were not affected by the stroke, she did the cooking for her husband and herself, and also sewed. Mrs. Lanz was a charter member of the York extension club, and in later years was made a life member. Surviving her are her husband, one son Louie, St. Lawrence four daughters Mrs. Russell Roth (Laura), St. Lawrence, Mrs. Alton Jarmuth (Lillie), Great Falls, Mont., Mrs., Maxon Williams (Lucille), Grants Pass, Ore., and Mrs. Pat Howard (Beatrice), Miller one brother, two sisters, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One son, Arthur, preceded her in death.
