Mrs. Niehus was born Nov. 10, 1901, at rural Alton, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Till) Wolbers. She was raised in the Alton area and attended St. Mary's Academy at Alton. Adeline Niehus Adeline Niehus, 94, of Oyens, died unexpectedly Monday, April 8,1996, at her home. Mrs. Niehus was born Nov. 10, 1901, at rural Alton, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Till) Wolbers. She was raised in the Alton area and attended St. Mary's Academy at Alton. She married Andy Niehus Jan. 4, 1923 at Alton. The couple farmed in the Alton area until 1940, when they moved to Oyens. He died Aug. 12, 1962. She managed the school lunch program in Oyens for 12 years and later was secretary at Mid-Sioux Opportunity in Remsen for 18 years, retiring in April of 1995. Mrs. Niehus was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, the church guild and Christian Mothers, all of Oyens. Survivors include two sons, Ralph and his wife, Jean Niehus and Rodney Niehus, all of Le Mars; two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Gerald Frerichs of Le Mars and Kay and Steve Theeler of Akron; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. James (Helen) Niehus of Merrill; 27 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Doyle and Jim Niehus; a daughter, Lavonne, in childhood; two grandsons, Tom Frerichs and Loren Niehus; three brothers; Bernard Wolbers in infancy, and George and Carl Wolbers; three sisters, Christine Wolbers in infancy, Mrs. Clarence (Kathryn) Hughes and Mrs. John (Clara) Jonas. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens with the Rev. Randy Schon officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Thursday, with a Christian Mothers Rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
